Robbie McGrayne take Player of the Week, junior long-stick midfielder
James Sproul win Defensive Player of the Week, senior goalie
Cole George earned Goalie of the Week, and then for Baseball freshman infielder
Dario Sosa got Rookie of the Week while senior pitcher
Matt Semon landed his first Pitcher of the Week honor as announced by the league office.
Trinity Bravo - Honor Roll - Women's Basketball
Bravo was nearly impossible to stop this week as Post University Women's Basketball went 2-0 and became the first team in the North Division to clinch a spot in the CACC Tournament next month. Helping the Eagles become winners of five consecutive games, Bravo dropped a pair of double-doubles, her first two of the season, against Dominican (N.Y.) and Wilmington University. Against the Lady Chargers, Bravo had a season-high 26 points and 16 rebounds before going for 12 points and 10 points against the Wildcats on Saturday. In all, Bravo shot 15-for-28 overall, 7-for-8 from the free throw line, and made a three which tallied up 38 points (19 points per game) and snagged 26 rebounds (13 rebounds per game) while dishing out six assists, a steal and a block. This was the second time this season in which Bravo has earned Honor Roll recognition.Â
Robbie McGrayne - Player of the Week - Men's Lacrosse
McGrayne has been off to a hot start for Post University Men's Lacrosse this season, helping lead the Eagles to an 18-6 win over D'Youville University over the weekend with a team-leading five goals. McGrayne has started the season with 10 goals on 11 shots in the first two games and on Saturday, the junior had five on six shots while adding an assist for a total of six points and having an 83.3% shot on goal mark. All five shots by McGrayne that were ruled to be on goal went in.
James Sproul - Defensive Player of the Week - Men's Lacrosse
Sproul was a key part of the Eagles' defense in their 18-6 win over D'Youville University over the weekend. Sproul collected seven ground balls, which tied him for the team lead, while forcing four caused turnovers in the 12-goal victory. The junior was part of a defense that allowed on two goals in the first 30 minutes and shut out the Saints in the first quarter completely.
Cole George - Goalie of the Week - Men's Lacrosse
Playing in 55 of a possible 60 minutes in the lone game of the week for the Eagles, George got his first win of the season for the Eagles over D'Youville, 18-6, after stopping 12 shots and allowing only six goals in the victory. George did not give up a goal in the first quarter and allowed just two goals in the entire first half before finishing with a .667 save percentage.
Dario Sosa - Rookie of the Week - Baseball
Sosa started off his Post University Baseball career in a big way, Sosa recorded his first collegiate hit in his first at-bat of the season against Palm Beach Atlantic University, scoring a run on it, before tallying another RBI single just two innings later to finish that game 2-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored in the Eagles' 5-1 win. A day later, Sosa had two more hits against Nova Southeastern University, including his first collegiate home run, and closed out the week with a .273 batting average after going 3-for-11 with three hits, a home run, three RBIs, and two runs scored.
Matt Semon - Pitcher of the Week - Baseball
Semon dominated in his first start of the season against Palm Beach Atlantic University on Friday evening for the Eagles. Barely having to work out of trouble, Semon allowed just one run on three hits while striking out seven batters and walking only two across six innings of work. Junior right-handed pitcher
Brennan Holligan would lift Semon for the final three innings to polish off a 5-1 win for the Eagles and earn Semon his first win of the season on the mound.
