MANCHESTER, N.H. -- Sophomore defenseman
Dani Ammons scored her first collegiate goal in the third period to help Post University Women's Ice Hockey pull even against Saint Anselm College on Friday evening, but a late goal from senior forward Tyra Turner made all the difference in the final score as the Eagles dropped their third straight game, 2-1, against the Hawks to fall to 2-5-0 in conference play this season.
THE BASICS

Post University (2-9-0, 2-5-0 NEWHA)
Saint Anselm College (4-8-0, 4-3-0 NEWHA)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Going head-to-head in net would be junior goalies
Hannah Saunders and Ava Hills who matched each other shot for shot in the first period leading to a shutout after the first 20 minutes of play. On the Post side, Saunders would corral all 16 shots she was peppered wih by the Hawks while Hills for Saint Anselm needed to make just five stops in the frame.
However, the tables would turn on the offensive pressure the two teams provided in the second period as it was the Eagles heavily outshooting the Hawks to the tune of a 24-4 margin in shots on goal. But Hills would be a brick wall in the net for Saint Anselm to keep Post off the board while senior forward Audrey Jackson put her team in front with her power-play goal less than a minute and a half into the period. Helping her own cause on the goal was Hills who was awarded an assist as well as junior defenseman Cora Webber to give the Hawks a 1-0 lead after two.
But in the third, it would be Ammons netting the equalizer for Post as she cleaned up a rebounded puck in front and shoveled it past Hills with the backhand on the power play just under five minutes into the period with the help of senior forward
Julia Wysocki and senior defenseman
Sajel Desai. The momentum would be short-lived as just under seven minutes later Turner's go-ahead goal ended up standing up as the game-winner despite another hefty 14-9 shot advantage for the Eagles.
Similar to their home game against Assumption University last weekend, Post would have a chance inside of two minutes after a hooking penalty to fifth-year forward Celesta Paolucci led to the Eagles having a 6-on-4 advantage for the final minute and a half. Four saves from Hills and a cleared puck by junior forward Brooklyn Schneiderhan that went off the post would seal the deal on the 2-1 win for the Hawks as Post fell to 2-9-0 overall and 2-5-0 in conference play.
