HOW IT HAPPENED
Scoring for the second straight day was sophomore forward Anthony Marchant at the tail end of the first following a face-off win for junior forward Brendan Lynch who was credited with an assist along with sophomore forward Stone Devlin, giving the Penmen a 1-0 advantage after 20 minutes. It was deja vu for Southern New Hampshire in the second as well, scoring with less than two minutes to go in that frame as senior defenseman Ryan Clear was set up by junior forward Ryan Pomposelli and senior forward Jack Gray to increase the Penmen lead to two goals.
While Post would have their scoring chances to the tune of five power plays across all three periods, leading to 11-shot chances against Berke, nobody would be able to solve the sophomore netminder and break the seal on the scoring drought for the Eagles. Also struggling to cash in on their power-play chances was Southern New Hampshire as they had seven man-up advantages and were only able to convert on one despite 15 shots in those scenarios.
That lone power-play goal would come in the third off the stick of junior forward Kurt Watson just over six minutes into the period with the help of Lynch for the second time today and freshman defenseman Ryan Kaysar. Also tallying his second point of the day was Pomposelli, who scored the fourth and final goal of the game, along with Gray and Clear for the Penmen who had their second point via the assists in what would be a 4-0 loss for the Eagles.
