HOW IT HAPPENEDÂ
Rodrigues nearly got Post their first goal of the match only three minutes into the contest on a cross-shot that was halted by the Chestnut Hill defense to keep the game scoreless. However, it would not be long before Glade notched his first tally of the match in the 11th minute when graduate midfielder
Luca Dettoli worked the ball down the right side of the pitch to senior forward
Francisco Sousa and Glade found open space from the pass he received to beat senior goalkeeper Connor McGrogan for the goal.
Glade would finish the match with five total shots, four of which were on net against McGrogan and tally his second goal in the 83rd minute unassisted which would put the Eagles ahead 3-0 which would be the eventual final score. Around that, it would be Rodrigues taking a penalty kick in the 40th minute against McGrogan after a Post player was taken down in the box by junior forward Dane Bodziak for what would be the second goal of the match.Â
By the end, Post held a 27-5 advantage in shots overall with a 12-2 lead in shots on goal as well as a 9-1 edge in corner kicks. The Eagles have now shut out the Griffins in seven of their last eight meetings since 2016 and are 12-4-1 all-time against them since their first meeting in 2007.Â
