NORTH EASTON, Mass. – Junior forward Gracie Sacca tallied two goals for Stonehill College and freshman goalie Alexsa Caron earned her first collegiate shutout as the Skyhawks avenged their loss yesterday against Post University Women's Ice Hockey with a 3-0 win on home ice as the Eagles fell to 3-6-1 in conference play with the road defeat.

Stonehill College (5-10-2, 5-5-0 NEWHA)
HOW IT HAPPENED
Just 7 ½ minutes into the contest, it would be the Skyhawks striking first as junior forward Gracie Sacca's unassisted goal, her fourth of the season, got past junior goalie
Hali Lawrence who made her first start since October 26th against Franklin Pierce University. After 20 minutes, Post would hold a 19-15 lead in overall shots and a 12-9 edge in shots on goal while manufacturing two power-play opportunities that they would be unable to cash in on as freshman goalie Alexsa Caron kept them off the scoreboard.
A scoreless second for both sides saw Lawrence come up with nine saves while Caron stopped 14 shots while both sides had a power-play opportunity and were held off the board until Sacca's second goal in the third. With just over five minutes left in regulation, the junior's goal from junior forwards Bailey Feeney and Kathryn Karo gave the Hawks the cushion they needed to escape with the victory.
This was in spite of the large shot discrepancy in the game which saw the Eagles hold a 35-23 advantage in shots on goal while having five power plays compared to just three for the Skyhawks. Putting the nail in the coffin would be junior defenseman Lily Barrett on the empty net goal with 45 seconds left using the assistance of sophomore forward Makenna Slocum to seal the 3-0 win for Stonehill.
