Fabian Ernst's His First Collegiate Goal, Righi Nets Second of Season in Men's Soccer Victory Over Goldey-Beacom

WILMINGTON, Del. – Graduate goalkeeper Ricardo Moreno picked up his second shutout victory of the season in net for Post University Men's Soccer while freshman midfielder Fabian Ernst notched his first collegiate goal as part of a two-goal afternoon for the Eagles who took down Goldey-Beacom College, 2-0, in their road matchup on Saturday afternoon. Post still has not lost a conference match in their last 21 tries now dating back to 2022.

THE BASICS

Post University 2, Goldey-Beacom College 0

Post University (4-3-3, 2-0-2 CACC)

Goldey-Beacom College (3-7-0, 2-2-0 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Junior midfielder Diego Righi, who had a crucial first-ever goal with Post against Holy Family University in that 1-1 tie a week ago, scored the game's first goal in the 38th minute, bringing his season total to a career-high two and giving Post the early 1-0 lead. That first half of play saw the Eagles hold a 4-3 lead in shots and 2-1 lead in shots on goal while the Lightning had two corner kicks offensively.

Those two corner kicks in the first half for Goldey-Beacom would be the only two of the entire match which was mired with a significant number of fouls and yellow cards. In all, 13 yellow cards would be handed out between the two teams, and the Lightning committed 18 total fouls to the 15 fouls committed by Post in the affair. Overall, the Eagles led the total shot numbers, 8-7 and 6-3 in shots on goal on the offensive side of the ball.

Righi would finish the day with three points, assisting on Ernst's first collegiate goal in the 80th minute which gave Post a two-goal cushion in their eventual 2-0 win. Moreno finished the afternoon having stopped four shots while junior goalkeeper Jamel Yasin made two saves from the Lightning on four total attempts.
