Jordyn Calas Scores in Second Straight Match, Women's Soccer Loses to Dominican (N.Y.)

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – Sophomore forward Jordyn Calas scored her second goal in as many matches for Post University Women's Soccer in the closing minutes against Dominican (N.Y.), but it would not be enough for the Eagles to overcome a two-goal deficit as they fell to the Lady Chargers on Wednesday afternoon, 3-1. The loss drops Post to 2-6-0 in conference play and as it stands three games out in the loss column for the eighth and final CACC Tournament spot which the University of Bridgeport holds going into their match this evening.

THE BASICS

Post University 0, Dominican (N.Y.) 2

Post University (2-10-0, 2-6-0 CACC)

Dominican (N.Y.) (6-6-1, 4-3-1 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Senior midfielder Isabella Wysocki wasted no time getting the Lady Chargers the lead with the help of senior forward Alissa Madura only 1:22 into the first half as Wysocki beat sophomore goalkeeper Aryn Nisbet with the low shot at the top of the box to put her team in front. Dominican (N.Y.) would end up producing 15 total shots in the first half in which Nisbet made four stops while the Eagles had seven total shots and tested freshman goalkeeper Brielle Bell three times.

With a 1-0 lead heading into the second half, the Lady Chargers tacked on an insurance goal in the 54th minute as it was Wysocki's turn to dish out the assist to sophomore forward Jessie Maraia and make it a two-goal match. With time winding down, Calas looked to give the Eagles one last gasp to try and tie the game as she cut their deficit in half, 2-1, with 1:04 left on her unassisted goal. However, less than 30 seconds later, Maraia netted her second goal of the half, this time with the help of senior forward Kaitlyn Zeeb to put away the match and deliver a 3-1 loss to Post.

Overall in the match, Dominican (N.Y.) held a 25-12 shot advantage and 11-6 lead in shots on goal while Nisbet made eight saves and Bell stopped five total shots. Offensively, both sides would be pretty evenly matched in terms of corner kicks with the Lady Chargers holding a slight 6-4 edge as well as committing more fouls to the tune of a 9-7 margin.
