Fliss Does Not Miss! Freshman Scores Two Goals to Lead Men's Soccer Past Dominican (N.Y.)

ORANGEBURG, N.Y. – It was just what the doctor ordered for Post University Men's Soccer on Tuesday afternoon taking on Dominican (N.Y.) on the road in New York. Freshman midfielder Len Fliss continued his goal-scoring streak making it three consecutive matches for the Eagles as he netted two first-half goals to help lead them to a 2-0 victory over the Chargers which sent them back into the top four of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference standings at 5-1-2 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Playing in 61 minutes this match, Fliss got the Eagles on the board in just the eighth minute of the match with the help of senior midfielder Nathan Tau in a half which saw the Post defense allow just two shots to the Chargers. Graduate goalkeeper Ricardo Moreno faced only one of those shots on net, stopping it in the 37th minute to help maintain the lead which at that point was at two for the Eagles. The reason it would be at two came in the 28th minute when Fliss struck again this time with the help of freshman forward Marc Ballart to beat senior goalkeeper Joshua Kaandorp.

Kaandorp would finish the match having made six saves on the eight shots he faced from Post while six total shots on goal came from Ballart and Fliss alone. In 52 minutes played, Ballart notched four total shots, three of which reached Kaandorp in net and were stopped while Fliss also tallied three shots on goal in which the senior could only stop one of them. Of the 14 total shots the Eagles took, Fliss and Ballart accounted for seven of them while senior forward Francisco Sousa was responsible for three more of them.

A quiet second half for both sides saw Kaandorp make three more saves in the net while Moreno notched his fifth shutout of the season after making three total saves, including two in the final 45 minutes. Overall, the Eagles held a 7-4 advantage in corner kicks, a 14-7 lead in total shots, and an 8-3 edge in shots on goal while the Chargers finished with 12 fouls and two yellow cards compared to just four for Post with one yellow card in the 2-0 win.

BY THE NUMBERS
