Lukas Glade Nets First Goal as an Eagle, Men's Soccer Works to 1-1 Tie Against Felician

WATERBURY, Conn. – It was a high-energy match for both sides on Wednesday afternoon at LaMoy Field in a high-stakes conference matchup for Post University Men's Soccer against Felician University. After the Golden Falcons went 1-1-0 last week, they would fall from 14th in the United Soccer Coaches National Poll to on the outside looking in while the Eagles looked to get back to form with a few key missing pieces.

While Post took the early momentum with a goal from junior midfielder Lukas Glade in the first half, a game-tying goal from the Golden Falcons in the second half would send the match to a 1-1 tie after some key saves down the stretch from graduate goalkeeper Ricardo Moreno.

THE BASICS

Post University 1, Felician University 1

Post University (3-3-3, 1-0-2 CACC)

Felician University (5-2-1, 1-1-1 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
An evenly matched first half saw a total of nine shots between the two teams with the Golden Falcons holding a slight 5-4 edge overall, but the difference was all four Post shots were on goal compared to just two for Felician. But only 6:20 into the match, Glade got his first career goal with the Eagles after being fed passes from freshman midfielder Len Fliss down the sideline to graduate defender Santiago Palacios.

Palacios would locate Glade towards the middle of the box with some space where he would beat senior goalkeeper Emanuele Moretti with the shot into the right corner which gave Post the 1-0 lead that they would take into halftime. However, before they got there with the lead, Felician nearly had the equalizer, beating Moreno with a shot in the box that was waved off due to an offside call.

A rather mundane start to the second half would see the pressure ratcheted up as it progressed on with the Golden Falcons eventually finding the back of the net against Moreno in the 68th minute. On a give-and-go from senior defender Manuel Otero to sophomore midfielder Nicholas Robinson, Robinson would split between the Post defense which drew Moreno out of the goal mouth enough for him to beat him to his right side for the score.

But just moments later, it looked like the Eagles would take the lead back when junior midfielder Diego Righi found open space and rocketed a ball toward Moretti, going just over the crossbar and out of harm's way. In the 85th minute of the match, junior forward Louis Cole would have the best chance of the afternoon to score against Moreno after a turnover by Post on the defensive end.

Crafty passing from right to left on the field left Cole one-on-one with Moreno who made the save of the year diving at the ball to make the stop and keep the game knotted up at one. Less than a minute later, it was senior midfielder Hugo Rodriguez's turn to fire on Moreno in the open field and he would miss just over the crossbar like Righi did earlier in the half for Post.

Cole would have one last attempt to give the Golden Falcons the win, firing on Moreno who made a diving save to add to his highlight reel afternoon in goal for the Eagles who worked a 1-1 tie against Felician to move to 3-3-3 overall and 1-0-2 in conference play.
