HOW IT HAPPENED
The Eagles would make the most of a 25-error afternoon for the Lightning in their three-set win which was the third-most errors an opponent has had against Post so far this season behind only East Stroudsburg at 26 errors and Mercy University at 31 errors back in September. Goldey-Beacom attacked at just .102 for the game with 38 kills while the Eagles were consistently above .250 for the entire match leading to a .276 afternoon while committing just 11 errors the entire way.
Junior outside hitter Giuliana Jaku had a team-leading 15 kills and .278 attack percentage for the Lightning while senior middle hitter Caitlyn Burch followed close behind her at 10 kills and a .192 attack percentage to lead the offense. Setting those two up was freshman setter Ada Koksal with a match-high 28 assists which was nearly matched by Post's senior setter in
Maria Fernanda Branco with 20 assists and other senior setter
Izabella Rae with 16 assists.
Journeying closer and closer to history was junior libero
Alyssa Groves with her 24 digs to lead the team while Peric's 12 kills along with 12 kills from senior outside hitter
Caley Harper, who had a .226 attack percentage in the match, accounted for over half of the 45 kills that the Eagles finished the day with.
Momentum in the first set was heavily in favor of the Lightning when their 6-0 run gave them a 17-13 lead but a 4-0 run in response by the Eagles helped them tie the set up before needing another 4-0 later on the brink of dropping the set to go ahead 25-24. Post would take that first set 27-25 behind a Peric kill and attack error from freshman Angelica Febres to help set the tone for the rest of the contest.
Four continued to be the magic number in set two for the Eagles who trailed early by four, 13-9, then used a 4-0 run to tie things up. Both teams would go on a 4-0 run that flipped things from the Lightning taking a two-point lead, 22-20, to Post going ahead by two, 24-22, on the brink of winning the set. After Koksal and senior outside hitter Poper Nanouski tied the set up at 24 all, Harper and Peric went back-to-back on kills to win the set for the Eagles, 26-24.
Trailing 8-7 in set three, Post went on a 7-1 run that saw them take the lead for good en route to their 3-0 sweep of Goldey-Beacom. That run would be spurred on by five of the 10 errors the Lightning committed in the set and the backbreaker would come later on in set three as well with another stretch in which the Eagles had six of seven points to go ahead by nine, 21-12, before eventually winning the set 25-13 with another 4-0 run.

WHO'S NEXT
Post University hits the road for a match to take on Bloomfield College in Bloomfield, New Jersey on Wednesday evening at 7:00 PM. Last season, the Eagles split their season series against the Bears after sweeping them at home and then losing in five sets against them on the road a month later. That split marked the first time since the 2014 season in which the two teams had a split as the Bears had won six straight matches before that from 2019-2022.
