COLCHESTER, Vt. – Coming off a scoreless weekend against Stonehill College, Post University Women's Ice Hockey looked to get a spark going offensively heading into a matchup against a winless Saint Michael's College team that had lost 24 consecutive games dating back to last season. That spark would come early and spill through the rest of the game as four different players scored for the Eagles en route to their first win of 2024, 4-2, over the Purple Knights on Friday evening.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Snapping a stretch in which Post University had not scored a goal in 95 minutes and 42 seconds of game time which dated back to the December 9
th matchup with Sacred Heart, sophomore forward
Tristan Currie would break that stretch with her goal in the first period. The goal for Currie was her third in four games after she scored two in the win over the Pioneers and came from sophomore forwards
Maddy Noonan and
Tymmarie Grom to give the Eagles an early 1-0 lead.
Making her first start since December 8
th, sophomore goalie
Hannah Saunders got the start in net for Post and would only face five first-period shots to keep her team in front while the offense of the Eagles manufactured 17 shots against sophomore goalie Annika Lavender through the first 20 minutes.
Allowing a power play goal for the first in three games, the shorthanded Eagles would give one back after sophomore forward Lauren Fisher beat Saunders from junior defenseman Gaby Tribelli and freshman forward Anna Jerylo halfway through the second, tying the game up at one all. That tie would not last long as a power play chance for Post would lead to junior forward
Julia Wysocki's fourth goal of the season, tying Currie for the team lead, and a 2-1 edge only five minutes later. The Wysocki goal came from freshman defenseman
Dani Ammons and junior defenseman
Caisey Van Den Oetelaar.
With just four seconds remaining in the second, sophomore forward
Rylee Patfield gave Post a cushion, getting on the doorstep of Lavender for her third goal of the season from freshman defenseman
Jodie Rose, which extended the Eagle lead to two heading into the third. For Patfield, it was her first goal since scoring the lone goal for Post against Quinnipiac way back on November 8
th, 2023.
Scoring their fourth goal of the game, their first time doing so since they fell 5-4 against Assumption on October 21
st, it was Noonan with her second point of the day along with Currie who assisted on the goal alongside junior defenseman
Sajel Desai that gave Post a three-goal lead only 45 seconds into the third. Only 1:10 later, senior defenseman Jace Zapata responded for the Purple Knights to cut the deficit back down two, but that would be it for both offenses as Saunders made 26 saves for her second win of the season and the Eagles snapped their two-game losing streak with a 4-2 victory.
