HOW IT HAPPENED
The scoring got started just under seven minutes into the contest as graduate forward Alexis Burr buried a shot by freshman goalkeeper Aryn Nisbet after a caroming ball found her foot after bouncing around off a few Southern Connecticut players in front.
Just following the water break at the 25 minute mark, junior forward Kylee Slavik, who anchored the offensive attack for the Owls most of the day, netted one to the left side of Nisbet to make it a 2-0 game and towards the end of the half another left side shot from junior forward Kat Mancinone made a three-score game heading into the break.
Despite some strong rushes from freshman forward Jordyn Calas and junior forward Tassia Ferreira, the Eagles would be unable to put one in the back of the net in the second half. Freshman midfielder Reese Kloetzer and junior forward Alyssa Hebb both manufactured some big offensive chances for Post via corner kicks and long balls that went deep into the Owls' defensive zone as well.
Three more goals would be scored by Southern Connecticut in the second half as senior forward Alexie Rosado, sophomore forawrd Nicky Deslauriers, and senior forward Ashley Wright all tallied goals for the Owls in their 6-0 victory over the Eagles.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Battling the blazing heat, Alyssa Hebb and Amber McGee played all 90 minutes of the match, the only two from either team to do so, McGee also came up with a kick save in front of the net to prevent another Owls' goal in the second half
