FAIRMONT, W.V. -- Post University Football traveled to West Virginia this weekend to square up against the Fighting Falcons of Fairmont State on Duvall-Rosier Field, where the Eagles took the 59-14 loss. Post was able to score once in the first and third quarter, but even after holding their hosts scoreless in the fourth, the Eagles were unable to come back from their 42-point deficit after the first half.

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Fighting Falcons were quick to make their presence known, grabbing a 7-0 edge within the first minute and a half of action. However, after a stagnant while, the Eagles tied it up at 7-all thanks to a touchdown from Leonard Farrow followed by a good kick from Emmanuel Richardson at the 5:45 mark. Less than a minute later, Fairmont reclaimed their advantage, 14-7. With 2:36 remaining in the first, Fairmont threw a deep pass to find Gage Michael to extend the Fighting Falcons lead to 21-7 before heading into the second quarter.
Fairmont continued to stay hot as the home team rounded up another touchdown at the 13:25 mark to bring the score to 28-7 after a short one yard rush before following that up with a pair of touchdowns and good kicks to make it 42-7 with 7:35 remaining in the first half. The Falcons were able to use the final minutes of action to extend their margin to 42 thanks to a 15-yard gain touchdown with 2:48 to go.
In the third, the Eagles' kept the Falcons at bay before
Emanuel Higgins recovered the ball to record Posts' second scoring opportunity of the game (14-49) but it was not long before Fairmont got those points back with a touchdown of their own at the 8:09 mark (56-14) before heading into the final quarter, 59-14.
Post was able to hold their opponents scoreless in the final 15, however, the Eagles were unable to find the end zone, taking the eventual loss.
BY THE NUMBERS
- Malakai Taylor finished the day going 10-for-24 with 126 passing yards and one touchdown and two interceptions.
- Meanwhile for Fairmont, Will Adkins went 9-for-14 with 214 passing yards as well as a trio of touchdowns.
- Isaiah Emmanuel led the rushing attack once again with 42 yards.
WHO'S NEXT
Post University travels to Pleasantville, N.Y. for their second matchup of all time against the Pace University Setters on Saturday, October 7 at noon. Last year, the Eagles fell to the Setters 45-6.
