Women's Soccer Shutout Versus Pace University in Post University Classic Finale

WATERBURY, Conn. – Post University Women's Soccer fell against Pace University, 2-0, at LaMoy Field to close out the Post University Classic this weekend. Pace put the ball in the net in the first half on a goal by sophomore Andrea Flores assisted by her fellow sophomores Kelly Dubois and Alexis Lee.

Junior Alyssa Hebb put a ball in the net but it was called offside in the first half. Pace scored their second goal in the second half by Junior Ava Pagliaro assisted by senior Joe Jillian.

Post had a very close scoring opportunity from a free kick taken by Senior Kaeleigh Serianni who placed a beautiful line drive right across Pace's goalkeeper in the 84th minute of the second half.

HOW IT HAPPENED 

Scoring in the 29th minute of the first half, Pace would take the lead with sophomore Andrea Flores scoring the first goal of the match. She was assisted by sophomores Kelly Dubois and Alexis Lee. This goal came from a corner kick which would head towards the box as Pace got to the ball to pass it off to Andrea Flores. Aryn Nisbet took hold of protecting the net, facing 25 shots and making 8 saves with 2 goals getting by. Post scored a goal with Alyssa Hebb following the ball in but getting caught offside, which resulted in the goal being taken away. Post had a total of 4 shots in the first half. 

The Eagles came out in the second half with 3 shots on net and a close chance to score with a line drive that was inches away from the bottom right corner, which came from a free kick taken by Senior Kaeleigh Serianni. Pace scored in the 56th minute of the second half from Junior Ava Pagliaro assisted by senior Joe Jillian who crossed it in.  

One yellow card was handed out during the game, going to senior Kaeleigh Serianni in the 54th minute. 

BY THE NUMBERS 

  • In her second game of the season, Freshman goalie Aryn Nisbet faced 25 shots and made 8 saves 
  • Post totaled 7 shots during the game, 4 in the first half and 3 in the second half 
  • Pace had a total of 25 shots, with 10 on goal and 2 reaching the back of the net 
  • Four Post University players played all 90 minutes, freshman goalkeeper, Aryn Nisbet, senior defenders, Amber McGee, Kayla Agostinelli and Bianca Stiles along with junior Alyssa Hebb

 

WHO'S NEXT 

The Eagles will prepare for their third game against Southern Connecticut State University in a non-conference match at LaMoy Field on Friday September 8th at 2:00 PM. The last time the Eagles went up against the Owls was September 4th, 2022, when the Eagles fell 3-0. Southern Connecticut tied their first match of the season against Queens College, 0-0.
