Baseball Drops Regular Season Finale To AIC

Waterbury, CT – The Post University baseball team dropped its season finale, 19-7 to American International College (AIC) on Wednesday at Municipal Stadium.

Post wraps up its regular season at 33-15 on the year. AIC is now 22-20.

The Yellow Jackets got off to a hot start, scoring four runs in each of the first three innings to take a 12-3 lead, including a two-run double by Cameron Fitzgerald in the first inning and an RBI single in the second.

The Eagles scored three runs in the second to cut their deficit to 8-3 at the time as Michael Pavelchak hit an RBI single and both Danny Gill and Matt Goehrig drew bases loaded walks. In the top of the third, the Yellow Jackets got an RBI double from Brendan Edvardsen and a two-run single by Jackson Haker to take the nine run lead.

AIC added one more in the fourth and two in the top of the sixth before Goehrig hit a three-run homer, his 11th of the season to make it a 15-6 game.

AIC scored four more times in the seventh to put the game away, as Fitzgerald and Edvardsen each had RBI singles.

The Eagles got a run in the eighth on a bases loaded walk to Shane Lindemuth.

Pavelchak was 2-for-4 with two runs and an RBI. Evan Wilkinson was 3-for-4 with two runs. Goehrig drove in four runs.

Edvarden was 4-for-7 with five RBI and two runs for AIC. Brandon Gaul was 5-for-6 with two RBI and two runs.

Up next, the Eagles prepare for the CACC Tournament. The Eagles will be hosting the double elimination portion and championship from May 11-13 at Municipal Stadium. With winning the CACC North, the Eagles will get a bye in the first-round which will be taking place at the higher-seeded site on May 5-6. Post will play its first game on Thursday, May 11 at 11 a.m.

Staying Strong In the Polls
The Eagles moved up a spot to seventh in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association East Region Poll (NCBWA). They received 35 voting points. They were also ranked third in the New England Collegiate Baseball Association Coaches' Poll, receiving 13 points. Southern New Hampshire was ranked first and Southern Connecticut State University, second.
