Waterbury, CT – The Post University softball team was swept in a doubleheader by Felician in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play, 6-1 and 6-3 on Saturday afternoon.
The Eagles are now 8-24 on the season and 4-8 in the CACC. Felician moves to 23-12 overall and 11-3 in the conference.
In game one, Felician jumped out to a 6-0 lead after two innings, after scoring two in the first inning and four in the second. Three of their runs in the second came on a bases loaded clearing double by Hannah Ramirez, which made it a 5-0 game at the time.
The Eagles bats were kept at bay for most of the game, but were eventually able to get a run on the board in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI doubles from
Caitlin DeAngelis to score
Emily Tarko.
Felician starting pitcher Riley Williams gave up just four hits and an earned run, while striking out five to earn the win.
During game two, the Eagles were the ones who jumped on the scoreboard first, scoring two runs in the inning on an RBI single from
Lily Tomasiello and an RBI double from
Courtney Brobst.
Maddison Caldwell kept Felician's bats relatively silent for the first three innings, allowing just three hits over that span. But the Golden Falcons got on the board in the fourth with four runs, including two runs on an error off the bat of Johanna Rivera.
The Eagles got one back in the bottom of the inning on an RBI double from
Allyson Wallauer, to make it a 4-3 game. The Eagles would end up leaving two runners in scoring position.
Felician tacked on a run each in the top of the fifth and sixth, making it a 6-3 game.
The Eagles had runners on base in the final three innings, but left two runners on in both the fifth and sixth innings and one in the seventh.
Wallauer was 2-for-4 with an RBI. Brobst was 3-for-4 with an RBI.
Maddison Caldwell pitched 5.1 innings in her start, striking out one.
Alyssa Hughes pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief for Post.
Daisha Howard was 3-for-44 with a run and an RBI for Felician.
Up next, the Eagles will host Bloomfield in a CACC doubleheader on April 12, beginning at 2:30 p.m.
