Newark, Del. -  The Post University men's lacrosse team lost a 24-14 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to Wilmington University on Wednesday afternoon.

Post is now 8-5 overall and 4-3 in the CACC. Wilmington moves to 5-6 overall and 4-2 in the CACC.

The Eagles fell behind early as Josh Lovely and Logan Stinson both scored in the first 42 seconds before Braedan Lockyer scored his first goal of the game, making it a 2-1 game. After the Wildcats scored a goal at 11:53 of the period, both teams went scoreless for over the next six minutes.

However, another goal by Stinson at 5:29 started a 7-1 run that ended the quarter, including another three goals from Stinson as Wilmington led 10-2 after the first 15 minutes. Robbie McGrayne scored the second goal of the game for the Eagles.

The Eagles got off to a better start in the second period as two freshmen connected for a goal as Ryan Denike who was standing behind the net and found Tim Keefe for his 17th goal of the year as Keefe bounced a shot into the net at 11:37. At the 8:18 mark, Nicholas Steele scored his second of the season. Wilmington scored the next two on goals from TJ Caton and Miles Crouse before Lockyer scored his second of the game with just 31 seconds remaining in the half off a pass from Keefe.

Wilmington scored the first two goals of the second, including the sixth of the game from Stinson to make it a 14-5 game, before Lockyer responded with back-to-back goals, the second on a pass from Denike from behind the net as Lockyer was wide open in front of the net for his fourth goal of the game. Keefe followed with his second goal of the game to pull the Eagles within six at 14-8. Wilmington scored three of the next four goals, including the seventh from Stinson and second from Crouse with a goal from Post's Zack Gignac sandwiched in between, as the Wildcats took a 17-9 lead. Post closed the gap again and would get as close as they would the rest of the way as Dylan Heald scored his first of the game and Lockyer, his fifth to make it 17:11 with 1:50 remaining in the third.

However, the Wildcats scored three goals in the final 1:40, including two from Lovely to make it a 20-11 game going into the fourth.

Wilmington would go onto score the first four goals of the fourth, including two from Lovely and one by Stinson. Gignac would earn his first hat trick of the season, scoring three goals in the final period on assists from Keefe, Heald and Hayden Hindman.

Lockyer finished with five goals on nine shots. Gignac finished with four goals on the day, a career-high. Keefe had two goals and two assists, and Heald had a goal and a team-high three assists.

It was Lockyer's seventh game this season with at least three goals. Heald currently leads the CACC in points with 56 and is second in goals with 36. McGrayne and Lockyer are both tied for third in goals with 35 each.

Stinson finished the game with eight goals, while Lovely had six for Wilmington.
