Softball Takes Game One In Split With Goldey-Beacom

Wilmington, De. - The Post University softball team split with Goldey-Beacom on Saturday, winning game one, 4-1 before dropping game two, 3-0.

Post is now 14-31 overall and 6-13 in the CACC. The Lightning are 29-22 and 8-13, respectively.

Jenny Riquelme pitched seven-inning complete game, striking out four and allowing just one earned run and three hits.

Post got on the board in the top of the second on an RBI groundout by Julianna Cicala, to score Juliana Rigano, who walked to begin the inning.

The pitchers' duel continued until the sixth, until Courtney Brobst launched her fourth home run of the season, a two-run shot, to make it a 3-0 game.

After the Lightning got one back in the bottom of the sixth, the Eagles added one more on a sacrifice fly by Allyson Wallauer.

Brobs was 1-for-2 with two RBI a run and a walk. Cicala was 2-for-3 with an RBI. Rugano scored twice and Carli Perruso was 2-for-2 with a run and a walk.

In game two, the Eagles were held to just three hits as the Lightning scored two runs in the bottom of the second, including an RBI single from Delaney Insignia. The Lightning added one more in the third on an RBI single from Gwen Safin.

Wallauer, Samantha Riccardulli and Perruso had the hits for the Eagles. 

Maddison Caldwell allowed just two earned runs on six hits in six innings for the Eagles while striking out one.

Alesia Doctor struck out six in her complete game win for Goldey-Beacom.

Up next, the Easgles wrap up their regular season in Philadelphia, taking on Jefferson at noon on Tuesday, April 25th in a doubleheader, followed by a doubleheader at Chestnut Hill on April 26th, beginning at 2 p.m.
