Women's Lacrosse Hangs Tight In First Half, But Loses To Jefferson

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Post University women's lacrosse team lost a 22-10 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game to Thomas Jefferson University on Sunday afternoon.

Post is now 3-6 overall and 2-3 in the CACC. Jefferson is 4-6 overall and 3-1 in conference.

The two teams exchanged the first four goals as Cara DiStefano and Morgan Cassiliano got the Eagles on the board. The Rams would go on to score the next five goals of the period, including two more from Erin Avanzato - who scored the opening goal, to take a 7-2 lead after the first.

The Eagles crawled back in the second after giving up the opening goal to Madison Caffrey. Post scored five of the next six goals, including two from Molly Dobratz, the second from both Cassiliano and DiStefano and one from Annamarie D'Angelo to make it a 9-7 game. Avantazo would end up scoring with just one second remaining in the second period as the Rams took a 10-7 lead into the break.

Dobratz scored her third of the game at the 12:10 mark of the third period to make it an 11-8 game, but the Rams outscored the Eagles, 8-2 in the third as Avanzato scored two more and Carinal Raymond scored three in the period. Cassiliano added her third of the game at the 1:32 mark.

Gaabby Modzelewski scored the first two goals in the fourth for the Rams, putting away the game. Cassiliano added her fourth of the game.

Cassiliano added an assist to her four-goal performance. DiStefano finished with two goals and two assists. Lotanna Nwabudu and Hailey McHenry each had an assist.

In net, Christina Badaracco had 14 saves.

The Eagles won ten draw controls led by Dobratz and Cassiliano who each had three. DiStefano, Nwabudu and McHenry each had three groundballs to lead the Eagles

Avanzato finished with seven goals for the Rams to go with 12 draw controls. Raymond had six goals.
