Jersey City, N.J. – The Post University women's lacrosse got back in the win column with a decisive 19-4 win over Alliance University on Wednesday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game.
With the win, the Eagles are now 4-10 overall and 3-5 in the CACC. Alliance is now 0-14 and 0-8, respectively.
The Eagles scored the first five goals of the game, all from different players, taking a 5-0 lead at the 11:10 mark.
Molly Dobratz scored just 43 seconds into the game, followed by a goal from
Annamarie D'Angelo one minutes later.
Athlyn Wood scored 34 seconds after D'Angelo and
Hailey McHenry and
Morgan Cassiliano scored just 46 seconds apart. McHenry also had the assist on Cassiliano's goal.
After Alliance sandwiched a goal at the 9:59 mark, the Eagles bookended the period with five more goals, with again the five goals coming from five different players as McHenry, Dobratz,
Cara DiStefano,
Dayanara Paz and
Gabrielle Fiora all scored, all unassisted.
The domination continued for the Eagles in the second period, outscoring Alliance, 5-1 and taking a 15-2 lead into halftime.
Samantha Targonski scored twice in the period, while DiStefano, Fiora and Cassiliano all scored their second of the game.
Post outscored Alliance 4-2 in the second half as Cassiliano scored two more times, one in each period. McHenry added her third goal and
Lotanna Nwabudu finished off the scoring for the Eagles.
Ten different Eagles scored in the game, a program record. Cassiliano finished with four goals, and McHenry had three goals and three assists for a career-high six points. Fiora had a season-high in points with four, scoring twice and dishing out two assists. Targonski and Dobratz each had two goals and an assist.
For Targonski, it was her third game this season with two goals and also had a team-high 13 draw controls. Cassiliano it was her tenth game with three or more goals. She has 47 for the season, tied for seventh in the CACC.
The combination of
Christina Badaracco,
Niky Johnson and
Lauren Bain combined for four saves on the day.
Alexis Taylor led the way for Alliance with two goals.
Up next, the Eagles will host Wilmington on Saturday at 1 p.m. in CACC play.
