Box Score Philadelphia, Pa. - The Post University men's tennis team lost a tight 4-3 match to Chestnut Hill College in the semifinals of the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) tournament on Tuesday afternoon.
Post jumped out to a 1-0 lead after sweeping the doubles competition as
Niklas Langenfeld and
James Vincent won, 6-1 in doubles no. 3 and
Josh Cronje and
Gustavo Kerber won 6-4 over Antonio Franquis and Marcello Bozzone.
Anton Andersson put the Eagles up 2-0 after winning in singles no. 3, 6-4-6-3 before the Griffins won in singles no. 4 as Tiago Lima defeated
Josh Cronje, 6-2, 6-2. They'd tie the matchup in a 6-4, 5-7, 6-3 win in no. 2 as Tom Pitchley defeated Kerber.
Post regained the lead as Langenfeld defeated Pedro Vicente, 7-5, 7-6 (7-5).
The Griffins closed out winning two three-set matches as
Cooper Smith lost a tough 6-7 (8-6), 6-2, 6-2 match to Joao Sousa, tying the match at 3-3.
However, in a thrilling singles no. 1 match, Noah Cutting defeated
James Vincent, 6-7 (10-8), 7-6 (12-10), 6-1 to give the Griffins the win.Â
Chestnut Hill will go on to face Jefferson on April 21 for the CACC Championship.
The Eagles finish their season at 8-10. Chestnut Hill is now 14-8.
