Anton Andersson and Dante Despontin Named to CACC Men's Tennis All-Conference Team

WATERBURY, Conn. -- For the second straight season, Post University Men's Tennis landed multiple players on the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference All-Conference Team as sophomore Dante Despontin and senior Anton Andersson were named to the Men's Tennis All-Conference Team as announced by the league office on Friday afternoon.

Last season, freshman James Vincent and senior Gustavo Kerber were named to the CACC All-Conference Team, marking the first time in program history in which two Post players received the honor in the same season. For Andersson and Despontin, it is both of their first All-Conference nods as an Eagle in their fourth and first season respectively.

For Despontin, he was a transfer from Pratt Community College of the NJCAA this season and has been stellar for Post having gone 7-8 overall in Singles thus far which includes a 6-3 mark in conference matches while putting together a 12-4 record in Doubles which translated to a 7-2 record in conference matches. In the Doubles, Despontin has primarily teamed up with Kerber, leading the duo to a 9-2 record overall with seven of those wins coming in conference play and a perfect 7-0 record in #2 Doubles.

A leader on the team, Andersson's All-Conference accolade comes after a 5-11 campaign in the Singles where he was primarily slotted in the #1 spot where he was 3-6 overall while holding a 2-7 record in conference play this spring. In the Doubles, Andersson teamed up with a trio of players including Kerber, sophomore Josh Cronje, and senior Niklas Langenfeld for his 16 Doubles matches in which he held a 7-9 record overall, 5-4 conference mark, and went 5-7 in the #1 Doubles slot. Andersson and Cronje were a perfect 3-0 while playing with Langenfeld a majority of the way yielded a 4-8 record and the single match with Kerber ended in defeat.

The Eagles are preparing to host their first-ever CACC Tournament home match as they take on three-seeded Chestnut Hill College at Woodland Regional High School in Beacon Falls, Connecticut this Saturday at 1:00 PM in the CACC Semifinals for a chance to face top-seeded Jefferson University in the finals next week.
