Waterbury, CT. – Post University freshman men's tennis player
James Vincent had a breakout first year as an Eagle, culminating in being named the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) Player of the Year and Rookie of the Year, while also being named to the All-CACC team. He is joined by teammate
Gustavo Kerber, who was also named to the All-CACC team.
Vincent is the first Eagle to be named CACC Player of the Year and second player to win Rookie of the Year as Konstantin Belov won the honor in 2019.
In Vincent's first year, he had an impressive 8-1 records in singles, including a perfect 5-0 performance in CACC play, all while playing at the No. 1 singles spot.
Of his eight singles wins, six of them came in straight sets, including two wins over Chestnut Hill No. 1, Noah Cutting, who made the All-CACC team.
In doubles, Vincent was 7-6 overall, including 5-4 in No. 1. He had a 5-3 record in CACC play and was 6-4 playing with teammate
Anton Andersson.
For Kerber. He finished the season 6-10 overall ins ingles, including 5-4 in singles no. 2 going 8-9 in doubles, playing multiple matches in doubles no. 1, no. 2 and no. 3.
Kerber picked up a No. 1 singles win over Guilherme Salim of Dominican University, 6-3, 6-1. To kick off the season, Kerber won three straight doubles matches, all with teammate
Josh Cronje in wins over the United States Coast Guard, Adelphi and Salve Regina.
Kerber again had a three-game match winning streak with Cronje, winning against Southern New Hampshire, Dominican and Chestnut Hill. Each win came at a different position.
