Waterbury, CT – Waterbury, CT -- Another game, another win for the Post University baseball team as it defeated Bloomfield, 12-5 on Tuesday afternoon at Municipal Stadium in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (
CACC) play.
It was the ninth straight win for the Eagles, tying for the second longest in program history. The Eagles still sit atop the 
CACC North Division at 22-12 overall and 12-1 in the 
CACC.
Jimmy Brennan led the way for the Eagles offensively, going 5-for-5, including the hit that gave the Eagles the lead for good in the bottom of the fourth.
The Bears (11-19, 6-4 CACC) opened up the game scoring two runs in the top of the first, but the Eagles cut the lead in the bottom half of the inning with an RBI single from 
DJ Caron, followed by three more runs in the bottom of the second, including an RBI double from 
Evan Cornwell and an RBI triple by 
Michael Pavelchak.
Bloomfield retook the lead in the top of the third as Tyree Bradley hit a long single off the fence that scored two runs to tie the game, 4-4. Elias Guzman's RBI single to shortstop gave the Bears the short-lived 5-4 lead.
Post posted back-to-back three-run innings in the fourth and fifth innings, to take a 10-5 lead. In the fourth, four straight batters reached safely, starting with a walk to Cornwell and a single by 
Hunter Keller. Pavelchak followed with an RBI single to tie the game, and then Brennan gave the Eagles the lead on an RBI single of his own, making it a 6-5 game. Post added one more run on an RBI groundout by 
Robert Olah.
Cornwell again walked in the fifth inning, and was driven in by Keller on a double. Brennan hit his second RBI single of the day to score Keller and a 
Danny Gill single drove in Brennan as the Eagles took a 10-5 lead.
The Eagles continued their scoring in the eighth, as Olah hit his third homer of the season, a deep drive to centerfield to make it an 11-5 game. Michael Gadja added the final run with an RBI double.
Nate Byrd came in relief in the fourth inning, and pitched 3.1 innings, striking out four and allowing just one walk. 
Brennan Holligan and 
Jacob Tamburrino each pitched an inning of shutout ball to preserve the win.
Brenann's five hits were a career-high. He also scored twice and drove in two runs. Caron was 3-for-5 with an RBI. 
Matt Goehrig was 2-for-4 with two runs. Cornwell was 1-for-2 with three runs and walked twice. Pavelchak was 2-for-5 with a run and two RBI and Keller was 2-for-5 with two RBI and three runs.
The Eagles have won three of their last four games against Bloomfield.
It's the 12
th time this season the Eagles have scored at least ten runs in a game. The Eagles' 18 hits tie them for the second-most hits this season by the team.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday at Bloomfield in a doubleheader, beginning at noon.
Eagles Remain In NCBWA Poll
In the latest National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the Eagles were ranked tenth in the East Region, dropping one spot from the previous week.
