Men's Lacrosse Scores First Four Goals, Never Trail In Win Over STAC

Waterbury, CT - The Post University men's lacrosse team scored the first four goals enroute to a 9-7 win over Saint Thomas Aquinas College (STAC) on Wednesday afternoon at LaMoy Field.

The Eagles creep back above with the win, moving to 3-2 on the season, and the Spartans go to 2-2.

Less than a minute into the game, Hayden Hindman put the Eagles on the board, taking a pass from Ryan Denike who was behind the net, and whipped a shot behind his head into the net to make it a 1-0 game at 14:06 in the first.

Braedan Lockyer then scored three straight for the Eagles, the first two unassisted before Denike, who was once again behind the net, found Lockyer who had a hat trick at just the 4:00 minute mark. Post led 4-1 after the first after STAC scored with just three seconds remaining.

Lockyer opened the second period with his fourth goal at 12:07 taking advantage of a pick set by Leighton Cooke and finding an open lane to make it a 5-4 game.

The Spartans crept back to get with in one, scoring three straight, the last coming from Braiden Struss on a pass from Michael Huff, making it a 5-4 game. But, just before halftime, Hindman scored his second of the game, taking a pass from Lockyer and diving towards the net on the shot, making it 6-4 heading into the half.

Both teams exchanged a goal apiece in e low scoring third as Dylan Heald scored his first goal of the game on a tough angle on a pass from Denike.  Struss added his second of the game for the Spartans.

Heald scored the opening goal of the fourth as well, running from behind the net and firing a shot past Spartans' goalkeeper Crag Peavy. Cooke got in on the scoring himself for the final tally of the game for the Eagles as Denike found him, making it a 9-5 game with 8:41 left.

In net, Russell Robinson had eight saves, earning his first win of the season. Denike finished with four assists. Lockyer finished with four goals and an assist. The Eagles outshot the Spartans overall, 39-22 and 18-15 on goal.

Up next, the Eagles play their first true road game of the season, heading to American International College to take on the Yellow Jackets at 1 p.m.
