Raglievich Shines, But Baseball On Wrong End Of Pitchers’ Duel Against Franklin Pierce

Morehead City, N.C. – Dan Raglievich struck out ten batters and pitched a complete game, but the Post University baseball team lost a 1-0 pitchers' duel to Franklin Pierce on Friday afternoon.

It's the second time this season Raglievich has struck out ten batters in a game, tying a career high. Twice in the game he struck out two batters in an inning. He also didn't allow a baserunner until one out in the third.

Franklin Pierce's lone run of the game came on an RBI groundout in the top of the fourth by Max Genauer that scored Ian Battipaglia, who walked, advanced on a wild pitch, then stole third before being driven in.

The Eagles bats managed just five hits off of starter Kyle Roche and reliever Drew DeLucia, all singles. However, the Eagles threatened in the bottom of the sixth, leaving the bases loaded, but were unable to get a run across.

Michael Pavelchak and Danny Gill each had two hits for the Eagles.

Roche finished with nine strikeouts in seven innings for the Ravens, earning the win. DeLucia pitched two perfect innings, striking out three.

The two teams meet again for a doubleheader on Saturday, the first game beginning at 1 p.m.
