Women's Lacrosse Winning Streak Snapped In Loss To Dominican

Waterbury, CT - The Post University women's lacrosse team had its three-game winning streak snapped in a 23-6 loss to Dominican in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Tuesday afternoon.

Post is now 3-5 overall and 2-2 in the CACC. Dominican is now 9-1 overall and 4-0 in conference and in first place in the CACC.

Cara DiStefano had a hat trick to lead the Eagles. Molly Dobratz scored twice and Morgan Cassiliano had a goal.

The Chargers scored the first two goals of the game, but Dobratz quickly made it a 2-1 game just 32 seconds later as DiStefano found her cutting through the middle of the defense for her 15th goal of the season at the 11:12 mark.

Madelyn Grella scored her first of two goals of the game to make it a 3-1 score before DiStefano took it on her own, making it a one-score game again. But the Chargers scored just 13 seconds later on a goal from Erica Ortiz, which started a seven goal run for them. Jordana Tomasetti scored two goals curing the run and Grace DeStasio scored the second of her six goals and Caitlin Costello scored the first two of her eight, making it a 10-2 game with 11:14 left in the second quarter.

Post scored twice in the second on free position goals from Dobratz and Cassiliano. DeStasio scored two more in the half and the Chargers led 15-4 heading into halftime.

Costello put the game out of reach, scoring all three goals for Dominican in the third. DiStefano scored both of Post's goal in the second half.

Christina Badaracco had 14 saves for the Eagles in net, a season high.

For DiStefano, it was her fifth multi-goal game of the season, and fourth straight. She also had seven draw controls to lead the Eagles. Isabella Longo led Post with four ground balls as the Eagles won that battle, 12-10.

Post went 13-for-18 in clears. The Chargers were 18-for-19

Up next, the Eagles will head to Jefferson to take on the Rams on Saturday, April 1 at 1 p.m.
