Game Recap: Softball |

Tomasiello’s Bat Leads Softball To Split With Franklin Pierce

Rindge, N.H.Lily Tomasiello hit two home runs in game one and hit a clutch double late in game two as the Post University softball team split with Franklin Pierce, losing game one 7-6 before taking game two, 4-3.

Post is now 3-17 overall. The Ravens are 16-8.

In the game two win, Post hit solo homers in each of the first two innings as Allyson Wallauer hit her third homer of the year with two outs in the inning and her 18th of her career. In the second, Juliana Rigano hit her first career homer to lead off the inning.

Jenny Riquelme held the Ravens scoreless for the first three innings before they scored one in the bottom of the fourth. They'd tie the game in the bottom of the sixth.
However, in the bottom of the seventh, the Eagles started their rally with back-to-back singles from Samantha Riccardulli and Leyri Rivera. A bunt from Courtney Brobst advanced the two runners to second and third. A walk to Wallauer loaded the bases, and after a pop out, it set the stage for Tomasiello who ripped a double to left field to score Rivera and Riccardulli to make it a 4-2 game.

Franklin Pierce attempted to make a late comeback as Susannah Campos drove in a run on a single, but was caught trying to advance for the second out of the inning. But after a single and stolen base to put a runner in scoring position, Riquelme got Savannah Arreguin to ground out to end the game.

Tomasiello finished the game 1-for-4 with two RBI. Rivera was 2-for-4 with a run. Wallauer was 2-for-2 with a run and RBI while drawing two walks. Julia Maida was 2-for-3 and Riccardulli had a run and a hit.

Riquelme earned her first win of the season, pitching a complete game allowing just three earned runs on seven this and a walk while striking out four.
In game one, the Eagles jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the top of the first as Tomasiello hit her first homer of the season, a three-run shot that scored Wallauer who got on base via fielder's choice and Caitlin DeAngelis, who singled.

The Ravens scored two in the bottom of the inning, until the Eagles scored a run in the second and three in the third to take a 6-2 lead. In the second Rivera hit an RBI single, and in the third, with one out and DeAngelis on first, Tomasiello hit her second homer of the game to give Post the 6-2 lead.

After getting two runs in the bottom of the fifth, the Ravens closed the gap to 6-4. In the bottom of the seventh with one out and a runner on second, Haley Bigwood hit a two-run homer to tie the game at 6-6. The Ravens would win the game on an RBI double to left by Anna Erikson for the walk-off win that scored Lita Vorseth, who doubled.

Tomasiello finished the game 2-for-4 with a career-high five RBI and two runs. DeAngelis went 2-for-4 with two runs. Rigano was 1-for-2 with a run and a walk.

Maddison Caldwell pitched the entire game for the Eagles, giving up five earned runs while striking out three.

The Eagles are back in action on Wednesday, playing Alliance in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) doubleheader on Wednesday, March 29.
