Philadelphia, Pa. - The Post University women's lacrosse team never trailed in a convincing 17-3 win over Chestnut Hill in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) road matchup on Saturday afternoon.
Post now moves 3-4 on the year and 2-1 in the CACC, while the Griffins are now 3-5 on the season and 0-3 in the CACC.
It was also the third consecutive win for the Eagles over Chestnut Hill. In those three wins, the Eagles have outscored them, 53-18.
Post never trailed as
Cara DiStefano opened up the game with a goal just 52 seconds into the game, staking Post to an early 1-0 lead.
The Griffins tied the game just once at the 12:19 mark, but the Eagles closed out the first quarter with the final six goals, starting with the first of four goals from
Molly Dobratz, after she rebounded her own shot to put Post up, 2-1.
Gabrielle Fiora followed on the ensuing possession after a win on the draw from
Samantha Targonski just 27 seconds later. Dobratz followed with two goals just 21 seconds apart at 4:50 and 4:29 until Post's all-time leading goal scorer. On the second goal in the sequence, Dobratz won the draw and took it on her own to put Post up, 5-1.Â
Morgan Cassiliano scored the final two of the period including one at the 4:11 mark as the Eagles scored three goals inside 39 seconds.
The Griffins opened with a goal in the second period, but Post scored on the ensuing draw as Targnoski scored her fourth of the year, making it an 8-2 game.
Cassiliano would cap the scoring with three goals in the final 8:43 of the half, the first coming from Dobratz who found an open Cassiliano who had an open shot to the net to make it a 9-2 game. Cassiliano then followed with a wrap around goal at the 4:27 mark and closed out the half with a goal at the 1:25 mark.
Post was never threatened in the second half, as they shutout the Griffins in the third period with goals from
Hailey McHenry and Dobratz.
Post added four more in the final period, including the second of the season by
Annamarie D'Angelo who beat her defender one on one at the 11:21 mark. Cassiliano added her sixth goal of the game in a man up situation as she waited for a pass near the goal, then darted in front to make it a 15-3 lead. Targonski and DiStefano each added a goal for the final tallies fo the game.
Dobratz finished with four goals on the day along with an assist, while Targonski scored twice to go with an assist. DiStefano also added two goals on the day.
Targonski and DiStefano each had six draw controls on the day, while Dobratz had four. In net,
Christina Badaracco had nine saves in three quarters of work.
Lauren Bain had two in the final period.
