Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Women's Lacrosse Has Nine Different Goal Scorers In Rout Of Caldwell

Waterbury, CT - The Post University women's lacrosse team scored the first eight goals of the game, and had nine different goal scorers in a 21-7 rout of Caldwell on Wednesday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game.

It was the second straight win for the Eagles as they are now 2-4 overall and 1-1 in the CACC. Caldwell is now 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the CACC.

Cara DiStefano scored four goals on the day while Molly Dobratz and Gabrielle Fiora each had three.

The combination of DiStefano, Dobratz and Fiora combined to score the first four goals of the game, with DiStefano getting the scoring going with her ninth goal of the season off an assist from Samantha Targonski to put the Eagles up, 1-0 at the 12:26 mark. Dobratz's first goal came off of a turnover, sprinting from midfield on her own and scoring past Caldwell goaltender, Serena Barra to make it a 2-0 game. Fiora then beat her defender less than a minute later to put Post up 3-0. DiStefano's second goal came on a pass from behind the net from Hailey McHenry to put the Eagles up by four goals.

Morgan Cassiliano, Athlyn Wood and Dayanara Paz would all add goals in the period, while Dobratz scored her second of the game to put Post up, 8-0. The final four goals of the period all came in the span of 2:21, thanks in part to DiStefano and Targonski winning four straight draw controls. The Cougars scored the next two as the Eagles took an 8-2 lead in to the second period.

Dobratz opened up the second with her third goal of the game on a pass from Cassiliano just 57 seconds in. After Caldwell answered with a goal less than a minute later, Post scored the final five goals of the period as Wood, Paz and Cassiliano each scored their second of the game while McHenry scored her first. Cassiliano had three of her four assists in the second period.

The Eagles put the game away in the third, scoring the first three goals to make it an 18-3 game including DiStefano's third, Fiora's second and two from Targonski.

Caldwell never threatened in the fourth as Annamarie D'Angelo scored her first collegiate goal while DiStefano and Fiora added to their totals.

It was DiStefano's season-high for goals in a game this season and the sixth time in her career she has had at least four goals in a game. She now has 80 career goals. Dobratz finished with four points in the game. The hat trick was her second straight, as she has scored seven goals in the last two games. It was the first career hat trick for Fiora, who has scored all seven of her goals this season in the last three games.

Cassiliano finished with two goals and a career-high four assists. Targonski finished with two goals, two assists and 14 draw controls to go with two ground balls.

Christina Badaracco had seven saves in net for the Eagles.

Post has won their last four matchups against the Cougars.

Madison Ellis had a hat trick for Caldwell.

Up next, the Eagles will get their first CACC road test as they head to Chestnut Hill to take on the Griffins at noon.
