Waterbury, CT - THe Post University women's lacrosse team lost its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) opener, 19-11 on Saturday to Holly Family.
The Tigers opened up with a goal just 13 seconds in, before
Morgan Cassiliano scored her first of three goals on the day at 13:01. The Tigers took control, scoring the next six, including the second for Rianna Sheilds to take a 7-1 lead.
Molly Dobratz scored with under a minute left and Holy Family took a 7-2 lead into the second.
Shields scored the first two goals of the second before
Gabrielle Fiora and
Hailey McHenry scored back-to-back goals. Fiora's goal came on a man down situation. It was her first goal of the season.
The Tigers took a 12-4 lead into the half.Â
The two teams exchanged the first four goals of the game as Dobratz and Fiora each scored their second of the game, while Shields scored the fifth of her eight goals. The Tigers scored four of the last five goals of the period, including two from Rachael Sepcic, making it a 17-7 game into the third. Cassiliano scored twice in the fourth and McHenry scored her second while
Lotanna Nwabudu scored in the fourth for the Eagles.Â
Cassiliano finished with three goals on the day for her second game of three goals or more. She has 197 in her career, three shy of becoming the first Eagle with 200 goals.
McHenry and Fiora each finished with a goal and an assist.
Cara DiStefano had a goal and two assists.Â
Christina Badaracco finished with 13 saves on the day for Post.
