Softball Gets Out To Fast Start Against Slippery Rock and Bentley, But Drop Both

Leesburg, FL. - The Post University softball team led early in both games, but lost 5-3 to Slippery Rock and 7-3 to Bentley on Thursday afternoon.

In the first game of the day against Slippery Rock, the Eagles took advantage of three walks and a Lily Tomasiello single to take a 1-0 lead. Julianna Cicala was walked with the bases loaded that scored Caitlin DeAngelis.

Jenny Riquelme retired the first six batters she faced, until Slippery Rock got on the board with three runs in the third, thanks in large part to a two-run single by Alexsa Hurd.

Post made it a 3-2 game after an RBI single from Juliana Rigano who drove in Allyson Wallauer, who doubled.

The Rock scored twice in the top of the seventh to take a 5-2 lead.  In the bottom of the inning the Eagles loaded the bases with the benefit of two walks and a single from Wallauer. An error from The Rock off the bat of Samantha Riccardulli scored Wallauer and kept the bases loaded with one, but the Eagles were unable to get another run across the plate.

In the game against Bentley, Post jumped out to a 2-0 lead as Caitlin DeAngelis hit a two-run homer that scored Leyri Rivera, who singled to lead off the game.
