Softball Comes Back To Tie Florida Southern In Game Two, But Lose On Walkoff In Doubleheader Sweep

Lakeland, Fla. - The Post University softball rallied late in game two, but ultimately fell short and lost both ends of a doubleheader, 8-0 and 6-5 to Florida Southern on Tuesday evening.

After giving up a run in the first inning in game two, the Eagles put together a two-out rally beginning with a Brooke Dickenson walk, followed by an RBI double from Courtney Brobst. Leyri Rivera then followed that up with an RBI single, giving the Eagles the 2-1 lead.

Allyson Wallauer put the Eagles up two with a solo home run, the 16th of her career and first of the season, making it a 3-1 game. The Eagles put two runners in scoring position after a walk from Samantha Riccardulli and a single from Juliana Rigano, but were unable to get anyone else across.

The Mocs took the lead back in in the bottom of the fifth, with two of the runs coming on a two-run single from Destiny Colgate. They'd also add a run in the sixth.

But with the Eagles down to their final at bats, they began a one-out rally, starting with back-to-back walks for Brianna Hynds and Julianna Cicala. Brobst and Rivera then followed with back-to-back RBI singles to tie the game 5-5. Rivera's single loaded the bases, but a strikeout and ground out ended the inning.

However, in the bottom of the seventh, a Kelly Keating hit an RBI walk-off single with two outs to score Taylor Thomas, who singled to lead off the inning.

Rivera was 2-for-5 with two RBI. Lily Tomasiello was 3-for-5. Brobst was 2-for-4 2ith two RBI.

Tomasiello is fourth in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference in batting average at .450 and Rivera is seventh at .441.

Colgate was 3-for-3 with two RBI for the Mocs.

In game one, the Movs scored three in the first inning led by a two-run double from Maddi Conner. They'd tack one run each in the third and fourth innings.

Post had opportunities to score, but left two runners on base in the second and third innings, and left the bases loaded in the fourth. The Mocs ended the game in the fifth after a two-run double from Thomas.

Rivera went 2-for-3 for the Eagles.
