Softball Drops Twinbill To Rollins

Winter Park, FL. - The Post University softball team lost both ends of a doubleheader to kick off their Spring Break trip to Rollins, 15-6 and 7-2 on Friday evening.

In game one, the Eagles took a 3-0 lead in the top of the second as Courtney Brobst hit a three-run homer after Lilly Tomasiello and Samantha Riccardulli hit back-to-back singles to open up the inning.

Howeber, Rollins answered with two in the bottom of the inning on a two-run single from Sarah Young and tacked on five more in the bottom of the third, highlighted by a three-run homer by Jaden Walker to make it a 7-3 game.

After the Eagles got one back in the top of the fourth, Rollins scored eight in the bottom of the inning, including a two-run homer by pinch hitter Morgan Lebeda, as Rollins took a 15-4 lead. The Eagles scored two in the fifth as Allyson Wallauer hit an RBI single and Riccardulli had an RBI groundout.

Ricardulli finished 1-for-3 with a run and an RBI. Brobst finished with three RBI.

Walker was 2-for-3 with three runs and five RBI for Rollins.

In game two, Rollins scored two in the first and three in the bottom of the third as Walker hit her second homerun of the day, a two-run shot to make it a 4-0 game.

With Post down 5-0 in the top of the sixth, the Eagles attempted a rally and got two across the plate thanks to a sacrifice fly from Bailey Dickenson and an RBI single from Julianna Cicala.

It was all the Eagles would get in the game, as Rollins closed out the game scoring two runs in the bottom if the sixth.

Leyri Rivera was 2-for-4 in the game for Post

Up next, Post will play a doubleheader at Eckerd on Saturday, with the first game beginning at noon.
