Bridgewater, Ma. - The Post University women's hockey team dropped game one of a three-game series, 7-1 to Stonehill on Friday evening.
The two teams will meet again on Saturday for game two at 1:30 p.m.
Julia Wysocki had the lone goal of the game for the Eagles, her fifth of the season at the 16:10 mark of the second period when she took a pass from
Hannah Luckman and became tangled with her defender, but was able to get a shot off past Stonehill goaltender, Hanna Zukow to make it a 4-1 game at the time.
Stonehill got on the board in the first period on a goal from Brianna Walkom, but added four more in the second to take a commanding lead, including two power play goals from Lily Geist to make it a 5-1 game after 40 minutes.
In the third, the Skyhawks added two more goals from Katie Sonntag, who would then get the assist on the final goal of the game, a shorthanded goal from Paige Whaley.
In net for the Eagles,
Grace Glasrud played the first two periods, stopping 18 shots, while
Hannah Saunders stopped nine in the third.
The Eagles had 24 shots on goal on the day with
Jenna Abeyta leading the way with six.
Kiersten Browning had four.
Stonehill narrowly won the faceoff edge, 28-27.
Madeleine Noonan, however, went 13-8 on the draws for the Eagles.
Tristan Currie went 9-9.
Alexis Petford finished with a goal and two assists to lead the Skyhawks in points for the evening. Zukow had 23 saves for Stonehill.
