Men's Basketball Rally Falls Short In Loss To Dominican

Waterbury, CT - The Post University men's basketball team's late rally fell just short, losing a 75-72 game to Dominican in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) game on Wednesday evening.

Both teams were tied 11 times in a hotly contested first half as the game was always within two points for over 15 minutes aside from an early 7-3 lead from Dominican.

Warnock went 5-for-8 from the field in the first half for the Eagles as nine different Eagles scored in the half, including six players who had two points.

With the game tied at 28-28, the Isaiah Honis hit a three at the 4:01 mark to mark the first lead above two points since the 17:48 mark. The Chargers closed out the half on a 12-4 run to take a 40-32 lead into the half.

The Eagles immediately cut their deficit to three at 40-37 in just the first 40 seconds after scoring the first five points of the half that started with a three from David Jasson. Post would get within two after a layup from Warnock, but a three from Honis put the Charters back up five.

After the Chargers extended their lead back to five, two free throws from Jasson and a jumper from Frechette cut the game to 48-47.

Dominican stayed with a slim lead through the middle of the second half, but a brief 6-0 run gave them their biggest lead of the half at 65-56 with 3:54 remaining.

The Eagles again cut the lead down to four points at 69-65 after a layup from Warnock and a three and two free throw from Frechette. A free throw from by Jaden Honis put the Chargers back up 72-67, but Holmes would make a layup to cut it to a three-point deficit. After a Post timeout, Holmes stole a pass from Jaden Honis and laid it in to  make it a 72-71 game.

Two free throws from Isaiah Honis made it a 74-71 Dominican lead. Dominican fouled Holmes, who hit one of two free throws. On the miss on the second shot, both teams went after the miss, but the Eagles were out of bounds when they secured the ball. Isaiah Honis would hit a free throw with two seconds left and the Eagles were unable to get a final shot off.
