Hooksett, N.H. - The Post University women's lacrosse team lost its season-opener, 19-3 to the Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) Penmen on Tuesday afternoon in non-conference play.
HOW IT WENT DOWN
- Southern New Hampshire scored the first four goals of the game until Hailey McHenry scored her first goal of the season off a free position that started behind the net. Â
- The Penmen took a 7-1 lead after the first, behind two goals from both Alexis DeLucia and Skylar Renaud.
- After Renaud's third goal of the game to start the second quarter, Dayanara Paz scored, taking a pass right in front of the net from Morgan Cassiliano, made a few fakes and scored past SNHUÂ goaltender, Megan Petko.
- SNHU took a 10-1 lead into the half, and scored five straight goals from the end of the second to nearly halfway through the third, including two each from Madison Keating and Shelby Cole.
- Cara Distefano scored her first of the year in the third period, the Eagles lone goal of the second half.
- The Penmen outscored Post 4-0 in the fourth.
GAME NOTES
- For Paz, it was her first career goal as an Eagle.
- Post goaltender Christina Badaracco had seven saves in the first half.
- SNHU outshot Post on goal, 27-10. DiStefano led the Eagles with four.
- Post had 17 groundballs to SNHU's 10. DiStefano led Post with four.
- Renaud finished with five goals for SNHU. Shelby Cole finished with two.
