Heald Scores Six Times In Men's Lacrosse Win Over D'Youville

Waterbury, CT - Dylan Heald scored six goals and three other players had hat tricks as the Post University men's lacrosse team won its first game of the season in a 19-9 victory over D'youville on Sunday afternoon.

Ryan Denike, Braedan Lockyer and Robbie McGrayne also had three goals for the Eagles, who never trailed in the game as they scored they first three goals of the game.

McGrayne started the scoring streaking in towards the goal taking a pass from Denike who was behind the net and putting the ball past D'Youville goaltender Reece Eck to put the Eagles up 1-0 at the 12:40 mark. At the 11:11 mark, Nathan Chalut scored his first of the season, putting his stick behind his back to get by his defender and ripping a shot past Eck to make it 2-0. 

McGrayne scored his second of the game at the 9:51 mark as Lockyer made a run towards the right side of the net and passed it off to McGrayne who took a shot from ten yards out for the goal to put the Eagles up, 3-0. 

After the Saint got one on the board Dylan Heald scored two straight, including one off a pass from Meier to make it 5-1. The Eagles led 6-3 after the first as Tim Keefe scored the final of the quarter for the Eagles.

Post scored the first two goals of the second including the first from Lockyer of the game who came sprinting onto the field as the Eagles got into their offense and ran towards the net to fire a point-blank shot to make it a 7-3 game. Ryan Denike follwed with his first of the game. 

Lockyer got his second assist of the game as he found Hayden Hindman for his first goal of the season to put the Eagles up 9-4 at 6:59. The Saints scored two straight, but the Eagles scored the next three, including Heald's third of the game and Nicholas Steele scoring his first of the season on a pass from Zack Gignac. Lockyer scored his second of the quarter and Heald scored his fourth on another connection from Meier with 11 seconds remaining in the second quarter to put the Eagles up, 13-7 into the half.

The third quarter was scoreless for both teams, but the Eagles made up for it, scoring six straight, starting with McGrayne's third of the game. Heald scored two more, and Denike scored his final two, while Lockyer scored his third as the Eagles were never threatened the entire half.

Post went 5-for-5 on extra-man opportunities and 23-for-23 on clears.They also had 52 ground balls with Christopher Evans leading with eight.. Post dominated on the faceoffs, winning 22 of 32, including 19 from Evans.

Post had 33 shots on goal with Heald, McGrayne and Lockyer all leading the way with six.

Heald now has nine goals in just two games. His six goals were a career-high.

Evan Stefano, Tristan Engelhardt and Nick Sholett each had two goals for the Saints.

Up next, the Eagles head to Maryland to play Aldersson Broaddus at the United States Lacrosse Facility at noon.
