Waterbury, CT - The Post University baseball team lost an 8-2 game to Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) on Friday evening.
The Eagles are now 3-2 on the season, while the Penmen won its first game of te season.
Both teams exchanged runs in the first inning. In the bottom of the first, the Eagles got on the board in a big way as
DJ Caron hit a solo home run - his first of the season - to left field to tie the game at 1-1.
The Penmen got two back in the top of the third on a two-run single by Michael LaRocca to go back up 3-1.
Post would get just two runners on over the next three innings, but broke through in the bottom of the sixth.
Danny Gill reached on an error to lead off the inning. After the next two batters were retired with Gill advancing to second on a ground out,
Jimmy Brennan brought him home with a single to right, making it a 3-2 game.
Derek Duval came in relief for the Eagles, striking out six over the first three innings of his outing.
However, in the ninth, the first four Penmen reached base safely, including Cam Caraher, who hit an RBI triple to make it a 4-2 game. A fielder's choice, a wild pitch and two bases loaded walks gave the Penmen four more runs in the inning. Post was retired in order in the bottom of the inning.
Dan Raglievich started the game, striking out four giving up three runs - two earned - in four innings. He is 1-1 on the season. Duval finished with seven strikeouts on the day in three innings.
LaRocca was 2-for-3 with three RBI for SNHU. Caraher was 2-for-3 with an RBI and run.
The two teams meet again in Waterbury, with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m.
