Boston, MA. - The Post University men's hockey team lost a 3-1 non-conference game to Rivier University in a non-conference game on Tuesday evening at the Warrior Ice Arena.
Post is now 6-19-2 overall. Rivier is 8-15-2.
The Raiders jumped out to a 1-0 lead just over two minutes into the game on a goal from Comac Hayes.
In the second period, the Raiders took a two-goal lead at the 9:49 mark as Alfred Rotiroti scored at the 9:49 mark.
Post was able to cut the deficit in half shortly into the third as
Patrick Murphy scored his sixth goal of the season as
Jack Engdahl back-handed a pass to
Jacob Howell who was skating towards the net. Howell tapped a pass to Murphy who was skating parallel to him and he found an opening in the net to make it a 2-1 game at the 1:45 mark.
The Eagles could not get another one past Rivier goaltender, Will Augustine as the Raiders added an empty net goal from Jon Tavella at the 18:28 mark.
Zach Richards stopped 37 shots on the day, the same as Augustine.
The Eagles had 38 shots on the day with
Ryan Mosher and Murphy leading the way with five each. Murphy and Connor Murray each won eight faceoffs.
Up next, the Eagles close out their season with a weekend series against Saint Michael's on Feb. 17 and 18.
