Shelton, CT - Niko Grollman scored a late goal, helping the Eagles notch a tie with Franklin Pierce in a Northeast-10 (NE10) game on Saturday afternoon.
The goal, Grollman's ninth of the season, also came on his 100th career game.
With the Eagles trailing 3-2 with just over a minute remaining, the Eagles pulled goaltender,
Zach Richards for an extra attacker. On the goal, Conner Barter took a shot that was stopped by Franklin Pierce goaltender, Kyle Martin. Grollman skated towards the crease and put in the rebound as the game would go into overtime.Â
In the overtime, Post goaltender
Zach Richards stopped three of his 31 shots during the 3-on-3 period to hold onto the tie.
The Ravens got on the board with the first of two power play goals; the first from Chris Stevenson at the 11:56 mark.
Post remained scoreless until the 4:39 mark of the second when Barter recovered a lost faceoff that
Jack Engdahl dispossessed from the Ravens' player. Barter ripped it past Martin's shoulder for his fifth goal of the season to tie the game at 1-1.
Franklin Pierce regained the lead at the 9:05 mark on a power play goal from Devin Rohrich, but Post would tie it back up just less than three minutes later as Barter went around the net and passed it to
Nick Brewer, who took a slapshot that was initially blocked. He got the rebound and took a wrist shot over the left shoulder of Martin to tie the game.
Ryan Cardow was also credited with an assist.
The Ravens took their final lead of the game at the 8:36 mark of the third before Grollman's heroics.
Barter finished with three points on the day, the second time he's had three points in a game this season.Â
Post is now 6-18-2 overall and 4-12-2 in the NE10. The Ravens move to 10-17-2 overall and 7-9-2 in the conference.
Up next, the Eagles play Rivier in a non-conference game in Boston on Tuesday at Feb. 14 at 7:15 p.m.
