HOW IT HAPPENED
Despite the Eagles winning the initial face off at center ice, the Greyhounds were quick to flip the script as they wasted no time before taking the 1-0 edge less than a minute into action thanks to a feed from behind the net to give
Sheridan Terrazzano her first goal of the season.
Before the Eagles were even able to get a shot off, Assumption doubled their tally with another goal less than two minutes later at the 17:41 mark, extending their margin to two. Sixty-two ticks later,
Jodie Rose was able to get the first shot on net for the Eagles after three and a half minutes of play, but Assumption's goalie swiftly denied the attempt to keep Post off the board. The Eagles' sticks started to get hot, out shooting the Greyhounds 3-1 before a power play opportunity arose for the Eagles with 14:51 to go in the first, however, Post was unable to take advantage of the man-up situation. The Greyhounds continued to be menaces on the ice, earning their second two-minute penalty of the night for roughing with 7:21 remaining, this time the Eagles pounded the net six times, however, were still unable to penetrate before heading into the intermission, 0-2.
Back from the break,
Jade Giesbrecht won the face off once again before the Greyhounds turned around to take the first shot on net, shut down by Eagles' goalie
Hannah Saunders. Assumption continued to rattle off a multitude of shots, however, Post's defense stayed strong, keeping the Greyhounds scoreless until 5:29 when Assumption notched an insurance goal to make it 3-0 before the final frame.
In the third, Assumption continued their offensive powerhouse, pounding a pair of shots before Post's
Macy Peterson was able to rip one on the top pipe to get the Eagles an inch closer to shrinking their deficit. The Eagles were able to hold the Greyhounds at bay for the remainder of the period, however, they were unable to sneak one past Assumption's brick wall eventually taking the 0-3 loss.
