Waterbury, Conn. – In this year's Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) preseason poll your Eagles were picked to finish fourth in the North Division with 38 points. Last year the team finished 15-13 (10-8 CACC) where they fell to #1 Jefferson in the CACC quarterfinals, 83-76 to end the season. With the departure of their two top scorers in DJ Frechette and
Isaiah Holmes, the Eagles will be without graduate forward
Harrison Warnock who started in all 28 games last year as he is dealing with an injury despite being the only starter slated to return to the Eagles hardwood.
With the previous year coming with a lot of ups and downs for the team the Eagles look to bounce back and make a run in the CACC tournament with high goals set in place. With a healthy balance of returners and newcomers, head coach
Marc Kuntz and his new assistant coach
Shane Doyle look to revamp the Eagles squad.
The Eagles are bringing in new players looking to all fight for each other and pride themselves on winning at a high level. They see three players coming in from JUCO in
Deng Deang,
Robert Sanders, and
Edward Trahan. All three of these players can find ways to improve their teams on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.
Ahead of the Eagles in the poll stands Felician University (49), Dominican (50), and Caldwell University (64) in the North division. In the South division Jefferson University is at the top with 65 points. Caldwell and Jefferson earn top spots as they were both in the CACC finals last year where Caldwell won earning their place in the NCAA Division II East Region Tournament along with Dominican University.
The Eagles start their season off on the road with a pair of matches back-to-back in the Saint Rose Tip-Off. They will face off against University of New Haven and the College of Saint Rose on November 11
th and 12
th before their home opener against American International College on Wednesday, November 15
th at 7pm.
