HOW IT HAPPENED
The Eagles wasted no time getting on the board as Posts'
Jack Engdahl connected with
Nick Brewer before a feed from
Jake Aloi to give the Eagles a 1-0 edge after 6:11 minutes of action. The visitors were able to get 10 shots in before a single Raven shot that was denied by
Drew Blodgett in net. The Eagles continued to pound the net but it wasn't until 24 ticks left on the clock when they doubled up their score to take the 2-0 advantage heading into the second thanks to a goal from
Ryan Cardow.
The squads battled back and forth in the second frame however, the Ravens were able to outshoot the Eagles 15 to 10 before scoring their first goal of the game after capitalizing on a power play situation at the 9:05 mark to shrink their deficit to one. Just a few minutes later, the Ravens knotted it up at two-all on even ice after Devin Rohrich laced one past the Eagles' goalie. Post retaliated with 12 shots in the remainder of the first compared to Franklin Pierce's two, however neither team was able to break the tie.
In the third, the Ravens started out hot, rattling off five shots before Post was able to rope the puck towards the net at the 2:58 mark. With just under 13 minutes remaining, the Ravens took their first lead of the game, battling back from a 2-0 deficit thanks to a goal from Austin Pick after a handle from Todd Branish and Trevor Lawler. The Eagles attempted to force their second overtime of the season with 13 shots in the final minutes of the game, however, it wasn't enough as they took the narrow 3-2 loss, this time at the end of regulation.
