A Dandy From Dettoli Gets Men's Soccer Past Caldwell, Eagles Remain Undefeated in Conference Play

WATERBURY, Conn. - For Post University Men's Soccer, all it takes is one sometimes and Tuesday afternoon at LaMoy Field was no different as the Eagles remained undefeated in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play at 8-0-0 with their fourth 1-0 win of the season, this time over regionally-ranked Caldwell University with a second-half goal from graduate midfielder Luca Dettoli

THE BASICS

#11 Post University 1, Caldwell University 0

#11 Post University (9-1-3, 8-0-0 CACC)

Caldwell University (8-3-1, 4-3-1 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Offense was not hard to come by for the Eagles in the first half who rifled a total of 14 shots through 45 minutes compared to just three for the Cougars while also generating a whopping 10 corner kicks to Caldwell's two. Of those 14 shots from Post, five would reach sophomore goalkeeper Kevin Sabadin in net who would be up to the challenge and keep Post off the scoreboard. The same would ring true for junior goalkeeper Soren Jensen who stopped the one shot he would face which kept the game tied at zero going into the halftime break.

While shots for the game were 24-15 in favor of Post overall, the second half would see Caldwell hold the edge in total shots, 12-10. It would not be until the 67th minute when the Eagles would swoop in with the lone goal of the game as graduate midfielder Andrea Berti sent a free kick into the box and a perfectly timed leap from Dettoli helped him send the ball past Sabadin for the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal of the match.

Opportunity for the Cougars would be scarce from there on out as they would take four total shots in the direction of Jensen, but none of them would reach the junior in net. On the other end, sophomore forward Aritz Uriate would have a chance against the newly inserted sophomore goalkeeper Dylan Valencia to extend the Eagle lead and net his 11th goal of the season but would be unable to do so. Regardless, Post University would hang on for the 1-0 win to remain atop the CACC standings with three conference matches remaining.
