Women's Soccer Second Half Battle Ends In Stalemate Against Lady Chargers

WATERBURY, Conn. – Post University Women's Soccer hit the field this afternoon attempting to extend their win CACC win streak to two as they invited the Lady Chargers of Dominican University (N.Y.) for their first match-up of the week. After a less than eventful first half, Eagles' Hailey McGee catalyzed a goal spree from both teams early on in the second half before the Lady Chargers soon evened out the score again (1-1). Post was able to take the edge back once again but were unable to hold it for long as the Lady Chargers retaliated with another game-tying goal less than four minutes later before ending in a draw, 2-2.

THE BASICS
Post University 2, Dominican University 2

Post University (2-6-2, 1-3-2 CACC)

Dominican University (3-4-3, 2-1-3 CACC)

HOW IT HAPPENED
Post's Hailey McGee started the Eagles off hot, launching back-to-back shots but the senior was unable to find the back of the net in the opening minute of the game. For the remainder of the half, both squads battled back and forth, ping-ponging possession in the midfield, however, the Eagles were able to get a foot on the ball twice as much as their counterparts as Post recorded 10 shots in the first half compared to Dominican's five.

After the break, McGee got right back on the pitch, powerfully just overshooting the net just under the three-minute mark. However, ten seconds later Alyssa Hebb lined up at the corner before placing a perfect kick in the mouth of the box which found Kaeleigh Serianni who passed it off to McGee who got the final chip on the ball to give her squad the 1-0 edge with 41:33 on the clock.

Once the Eagles got on the board, the Lady Chargers had reason to pick up their urgency as they brought the score to an even 1-1 at the 67:41 mark. A few minutes later, Dominican attempted to keep their momentum going as Isabella Wysocki rocketed one to the bottom right but was denied by Eagles keeper Alexis Campbell. Just 48 ticks later, Post turned the tables to reclaim their one-goal advantage as McGee net her second tally of the afternoon thanks to a feed from Jordyn Calas as she finessed the ball past the Lady Chargers' goalie to make it 2-1 with just under 20 minutes remaining in regulation.

Not long after, the Lady Chargers saddled up and took the reins to get their goal back at 73:39 after a heart-pounding double-assist header goal by Stella Koster to freeze the score again at 2-all. In the remaining time, both squads picked up the pace as they were desperate for a goal to break the deadlock. With just two seconds on the clock, the Lady Chargers attempted to squeeze a last-second goal in to take the win as Sabine Sorensen laced a line drive kick from the left edge of the box to the opposite side of the net, however, Campbell was quick on her feet to knock it down before another cherry-picking shot from a Lady Charger almost snuck past, however, McGee continued to be the star of the show as she fell to the ground to cover the bottom right side of the goal, stopping the final second shot from Dominican to end the match in a draw.
