Morrisville, N.Y. – The Post University men's hockey team snapped a nine-game losing streak, defeating SUNY Morrisville, 3-2 on Friday evening in a non-conference game.
With the win, Post moves to 4-11-0 on the season, while Morrisville moves to 5-7-0.
Justin Harshaw would score his first career goal at 17:25 in the first to give the Eagles a 1-0 lead as he took a centering pass from
Nick Weber right in front of the net who stuffed home the puck past SUNY Morrisville goaltender, Garrett Boyonoski.
The Eagles went into the intermission with the one-goal lead, but the Mustangs scored just 2:09 into the second period on a shorthanded goal from Curtis Abbott, while adding a power play goal from Trevor Neumann at the 8:52 mark.
Post tied the game just over eight minutes later as
Ryan Cardow scored his fourth of the season as he took a rebound off a shot from
Brandon Crowther to make it a 2-2 game at the 17:18 mark, which would be the same score heading into the third period.
After assisting on Cardow's goal, Crowther scored one of his own, rebounding his own shot that went off the boards, coming back around the net, and putting it past Boyonoski for his third goal of the season.
Drew Blodgett earned his third win of the season, stopping 44 shots on the day.
The Eagles had 23 shots on the day, with
Michael Gethings leading the way with five.
Weber and
Conner Murray each won five faceoffs for the Eagles.
Up next, the Eagles will play a weekend series at Saint Michael's College on Jan. 13-14 at 7:10 and 4 p.m., respectively.
