Men's Basketball's Winning Streak Snapped In Loss To Alliance

Jersey City, N.J. - The Post University men's basketball team had its four-game winning streak snapped in a 67-54 loss to Alliance on Tuesday evening in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.

Post is now 12-9 overall and 7-5 in the CACC. Alliance is now 10-13 overall and 4-8 in the CACC.

D.J. Frechette led the Eagles with 17 points to go with five rebounds and three assists. Harrison Warnock had ten points and six rebounds. Cape Holden scored eight points off the bench.

Post jumped out to a three-point lead early on starting with a three from David Jasson followed by a jumper from Warnock to put Post up 5-2. However, Alliance would score the next 14 points, with six apiece coming from Isayas Aris and Joel Bailey.

Down 20-9, Post battled back after a three from Frechette and a jumper from Holden to cut their deficit to 20-14. Alliance went back up by 12 points after the next six points. Holden and Frechette would both hit threes in the final 3:10 of the half, but Alliance took a 34-25 lead into halftime.

Alliance extended its lead to 40-27 at the 16:59 mark after a layup from Shir Moraidi, put Post scored the next eight, including three points apiece from Abdul-Basit Ajia and D.J. Frechette to make it a 40-35 game with 13:51 remaining. But over the next five minutes, Alliance went on a 19-4 run to go up 59-39 on eight points from Bailey and six from Aris. 

Post wouldn't get any closer than 11 points the rest of the way.

Collins Onyeike had a team-high seven rebounds with four points.Ajia had five points and six rebounds.

Aris finished with 25 points and 14 rebounds. Bailey had 20 points and five assists.

The Eagles will host Jefferson on Feb. 4 at 3 p.m. in their next game.
