Manchester, N.H. - The Post University men's hockey team rallied form a two-goal deficit and
Jake Aloi scored his first two career goals as the Eagles defeated Saint Anselm, 4-2 in a Northeast-10 (NE10) road game on Friday evening.
It was the second win of the season for the Eagles over Saint Anselm as they move to 6-15-0 on the season and 4-9-0 in the NE10 while The Hawks are now 13-9-1 overall and 8-5-1 in the conference.
Chris LeMay scored the first goal for Saint Anselm on a breakaway to put the Hawks up 1-0 at the 14:31 mark. In the second period, Leonard Brochu III put the Hawks up two goals at 5:24 in the second period.
Post would begin its rally at the 10:02 mark of the second as Aloi won a one-on-one race to the puck and put a shot past Saint Anselm goaltender Nick Howard's left shoulder to make it a 2-1 game.
Nick Weber then continued his hot streak just 1:21 later, scoring his fifth goal in the last four games and team-leading 12th when a pass from
Niko Grollman from behind the net went to
Lucas Baksay whose attempted shot went off a Hawks' defender back to Weber who stuffed the puck in the net to tie the game.
The Eagles completed their comeback at the 7:15 mark of the third, when
Nick Brewer scored his third goal of the season when he took a pass from
Michael Gethings and fired a shot from the slot past Howard to put Post up 3-2 on the power play. It was the Eagles' 22nd power play goal of the season, which is third in the NE10. Baksay also earned his second assist on the night on the goal.
Aloi would put the game away with an empty net goal at the 18:04 mark.
Ryan Mosher and
Casey Sturgeon each added an assist for the Eagles on the day.
Drew Blodgett got the win in net, stopping 42 shots, which was the second most he's had in a game this season. He has now won two of his last three starts. Howard had 26 saves for Saint Anselm.
The two teams meet again on Saturday at 4 p.m. at Saint Anselm.
