Men's Basketball Rallies From Double-Digit Deficit Behind Double-Double From Warnock

Philadelphia, Pa. - The Post University men's basketball team rallied from an early ten-point deficit, defeating Holy Family, 62-55 on Saturday afternoon in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference (CACC) play.

Harrison Warnock led the charge with 17 points and 13 rebounds for his third double-double of the season. Isaiah Holmes finished with 16 points and D.J. Frechette scored 11.

The Eagles held the lead for 11:10 of the first half, jumping out to an 18-14 lead as Warnock had eight points early on, while Abdul-Basit Ajia scored five points during the opening run. 

The Tigers responded with a 17-3 run, taking a 31-21 lead at the 3:06 mark after a jumper from Holy Family's Eric Esposito. Frechette followed with a three, and hit a jumper in the final seconds of the half with a layup from Ajia in between to cut the Tigers' lead to 31-28 at the break.

Post held Holy Family scoreless over the final 2:38 of the first half.

Five points from Holmes and a bucket from Warnock helped put the Eagles up 37-35 just 3:12 into the second half.  The Tigers came back to take a 48-41 lead after a three-pointer from Esposito at 11:49 for the biggest lead of the half for Holy Family.

A 9-1 run gave the Eagles a run briefly as a jumper from Holmes put the Eagles up 51-50 until the Tigers regained the lead on the ensuing possession. Holmes again came up big, putting the Eagles up 55-53 with 3:16 remaining. The Tigers tied it up one more time, but two fouls on Holy Family's David Robinson, Jr. sent Warnock to the free-throw line and Post took the lead for good after he hit all four of this free throws.

Tyler Small would hit three free throws in the final 19 seconds to seal the one for the Eagles.

Ajia finished with nine points and nine rebounds to go along with two steals. Small finished with six points.

Holmes has now scored in double digits in 16 of 17 games.

Post grabbed ten offensive rebounds, leading to 11 points. They also scored 13 points off of 18 Holy Family turnovers.

The win was the sixth straight for the Eagles over Holy Family and now hold a 17-10 series lead over the Tigers.

Esposito led Holy Family with 18 points. Robinson Jr. scored ten and had nine rebounds and Rick'Keem Mixson had a double-double with ten points and ten rebounds.

Up next for the Eagles is a CACC North road game against defending conference champion, Felician at 8 p.m. on Tuesday, January 17.
